Long, deliberately uneventful stories - with ambient soundscapes and automatic volume fade. Pick a story, set a duration, and drift off. No scrolling, no decisions, no bright screens.
No games, no rewards, no bright UI. Just stories and silence.
A growing library of long, meandering stories written and narrated to be interesting enough to listen to, boring enough to fall asleep to.
Layer nature sounds beneath any story - rain, fire, ocean, and night sounds are free; unlock forest, wind, snow, and more with a subscription. Your preference is remembered for next time.
A gradual volume fade that stops playback when it reaches silence. Configure the timing to match exactly how long you take to fall asleep.
Schedule bird sounds to fade in during your chosen wake-up window. No jarring alarm, just a natural transition from sleep audio to morning birds.
Bring your own ambience for sleep - and even for waking up. Your audio stays on your device.
A single tap starts a story and your chosen ambient sound together - no browsing, no setup. It picks from your favourites first, then downloaded stories, so something is always ready.
Subscribers can load their own audio files through the same ambience and fade pipeline. Audio stays on your device.
Download any story before bed and it plays without any internet connection. No wifi at 2am, no problem.
Nothing to sign in to. Subscribe through the App Store or Google Play if you want the full library, and you're done.
Deep navy throughout. No bright whites, no distractions, just stories.
Available on iOS and Android
Three taps and you're done. Then put the phone down.
Browse the library and choose a story by mood - a canal walk, a lighthouse, a tea harvest at dawn. New stories are added regularly.
Choose 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Optionally layer an ambient soundscape beneath the narration - rain, fire, ocean, and night sounds are free; forest, wind, snow, and more with a subscription. Your choice is remembered.
The volume fades gently toward the end so there's no abrupt silence. Nothing to scroll, no decisions to make. Just close your eyes.
The three cards on the Home screen are designed to work together overnight.
Start a story with ambience underneath. Set the timer to 30–60 minutes - the story fades and stops, but ambience keeps playing. Set morning ambience to fade in just before you want to wake up.
Skip the story and start ambience alone. Let it run all night. Morning ambience still activates at your chosen time and crossfades in naturally.
The app is designed to run all night. Ambient sound fills the silence after the story ends, and morning birds bring you gently out of sleep.
Yes - 5 stories are free forever with unlimited replays. No credit card, no expiry. You can use Sleep Yarns tonight without paying anything. If you want the full library, both plans include a free 7-day trial.
No. The app requires no account and no sign-in. If you subscribe, your subscription is managed through your app store account as normal.
Yes. The sleep timer gradually reduces the volume in steps, then stops playback completely when it reaches silence. You configure when the first drop happens, how often volume reduces after that, and by how much each time - so you can tune a slow, gentle fade or a faster one. Playback stops entirely at the end; it won't play all night.
Yes. Every story has a download button - tap it to save the audio to your device before you need it. Downloaded stories play without any internet connection. You can manage or delete downloads from the Storage section in Settings.
Subscribers can load any audio file - a podcast, a recording, anything - and play it through the same timer and volume-fade pipeline as the built-in stories. The file stays on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.
We tested layered woodland and coastal sounds and they were too loud and too sharp - more jarring alarm than gentle wake-up. A single bird singing softly gives your body something to surface toward without forcing it awake. The goal is to ease you out of sleep, not pull you out of it.
Morning Ambience isn't an alarm - it's designed to let your body surface naturally within a window. The start time works in 30-minute steps because that's the right level of control: enough to place your wake window where you want it, without the precision that turns it into a clock. If you want to be up around 7 AM, set the start to 6:30 and let your body do the rest.
